Toys for Tots: Color

After creating the similar layout in black and white, we upgraded to color to advertise the Toys for Tots drive our school was holding. The Toys for Tots drive collected hundreds of toys for our school, although our posters were never hung up. Either way the posters were for a good cause and thats all that matters.

Toys for Tots: Black and White

We made this poster to advertise the Toys for Tots drive that our school was holding. The advertisements were our first larger project in InDesign, and it made us a bit more familiar with it. Although never posted, the idea of making an advertisement was the only thing that mattered.

Pearl Harbor Day

On Pearl Harbor Day we all as a class created individual posters about the holiday. We used InDesign. These posters were to remind the class about the day of Pearl Harbor which, like the quote state son the poster, "the day that will live in infamy". This projects was kind of the practicing project that got us a bit more familiar with InDesign.

BHS facts

Our principal had the idea to make small signs to post around town promoting our school, Barnstable High School. Our project was to use Photoshop to each create 9 of them, 18 facts on 9 pieces of paper. The above two facts are from my third sheet of paper. They are all in the same format. These signs are supposed to be shown around town, similar to the Coachlight Carpets signs outside of Mobil on route 28.

Through Young Eyes

The Cape Cod Museum of Art has an exhibition with youth art, some made my Barnstable students. So our project was to again make a poster for this event. The posters definitely varied with peoples different ideas and creativity on the topic. We had to feature our own piece of personal art, but the majority of my pictures came from Google Images.

Sadie Hawkins Dance Poster

Our school was having a Sadie Hawkins Dance in December (which unfortunately got canceled) and as a fun project we decided to make posters for it. The dance's theme was blue and white so I made my poster have a blue and white tint.  We also had to decide which was the MOST important information, that would be more of the focus.

The Brain Project

We had to choose 60 things that we personally like, or think about. We then took a picture of ourselves, opened up our heads as if on a hinge and added images of these 60 things using Google Images. The majority of the time seem to have been spent on erasing the backgrounds off the pictures, and making them seem as if they are increasing in size as they came from our heads

Zombie

On Halloween we got a First Five to zombiefie ourselves. We experimented with hues and different elements in photos. I made my skin greener, along with my neck and shoulders. Than I made my eyes blood red and added dark circles underneath my eyes along with some liner. I tried to avoid changing the color of my teeth to make it seem more realistic.

Warped type

Here we learned how to add type to a job and warp it so it looks more fun and interesting. We used our first and last name. This was the introduction onto how to add and edit type in Photoshop. Although a quick and simple lesson, it taught us necessary skills that made our type a bit more interesting.

PuppyFace

Although creepy, this extra credit project taught us how to use layer masks to add our faces onto an animal. I chose a chihuahua that slightly resembled my mine at home. I then took a picture of myself in PhotoBooth than I added that and the dog picture into a Photoshop job. After using a layer make and a few other skills I came up with the above picture.

Magazine Cover

Here we learned how to make an official looking magazine by adding scanned pictures to the cover. I choose a picture of me and my cousin from homecoming. We were introduced to picas and how to make an official looking magazine. We learned how to scan images and even added a barcode to make it seem official.

Lyrics

Here we chose a song's lyrics, I chose Get it Right performed by Glee Cast. In this project we learned how to create layer masks and how to eliminate borders. We picked several images off Google Images concerning our lyrics and added them into a Photoshop job and then added layer masks, etc.

Sphere

When we did this Photoshop project we learned how to make a three diminutional shape and give it a drop shadow. It was our first harder project. We used Gausian Blurs and different techniques that made it seem as if the light was coming from the upper right. It amazed me how I was able to make it.

Gumballs

Here we learned how to layer different images on top of one another. We also learned how to add shadows to make them seem 3-D while using Photoshop. We learned how to combine layers to make them easier to use, and how to change hues to make the color different.
